License renewal issues for taxpayers

January 17, 2017

We have received calls from taxpayers who have not been able to renew their license (Doctors, Nurses, Truck Drivers, etc.…) because IDOR has put a hold on it for non-payment of their state tax.

Their license can be released if any of the following conditions apply:

  1. The taxpayer can arrange a payment plan with 20% (or more) down payment on a 12 month plan. If this happens, you should immediately notify your IDOR Agent Services representative (Christy Brown or Natalie Tardy) of the down payment terms and provide receipt. In “good faith” the IDOR will release the professional license.
  2. The taxpayer can pay the full tax amount owed. The taxpayer paying the Sheriff in full is a bonus. If this happens, you should immediately notify your IDOR Agent Services representative (Christy Brown or Natalie Tardy) of the full payment and provide receipt. The IDOR will release the professional license.
  3. The taxpayer may pay by credit card by using one of the two credit card processing sites listed below. The taxpayer must pay the full amount or pay 20% (or more) down payment on a payment plan with a 12 month plan. If this happens, you should immediately notify your IDOR Agent Services representative (Christy Brown or Natalie Tardy) of the full or 20% down payment and provide receipt. The IDOR will release the professional license.
    1. http://www.INTaxWarrants.com, The Lieberman Credit Card Processing site automatically adds the $25 process fee to the total outstanding balance.
    2. http://www.IN.gov, The IDOR Credit Card Processing site only accepts the Tax Liability outstanding balances. The $25 service process fee is not collected on this site. If the taxpayer pays full amount from the ATWS Notice, the $25.00 over payment will be credited to the outstanding liability.

Note: If you are actively collecting the $25.00 service process fee, you should try to get the taxpayer to set up payment arrangements or pay in full.

Please be specific in your communication to IDOR Agent Services Representative. For example: “Please release professional license for warrant # 12345678. I, (agent) accepted 20% down and arranged a payment plan (or paid in full) on today’s date. Please see attachment for receipt.”
